At the age of seventeen, Jenny was a soloist with the Murray Symphony, performing the first movement of Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor. She also performed the same concerto with her high school orchestra in Salt Lake City, as well as in San Francisco, California. At the age of eighteen she performed the third movement of the same concerto with her high school orchestra. In 2002 she received the honor of being her high school's Sterling Scholar in Music.
Jenny attended Brigham Young University, where she received her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance, studying piano with Dr. Scott Holden and pedagogy with Dr. Irene Peery-Fox. She received academic and music scholarships while at BYU, and performed in several BYU-sponsored performances, including the BYU Piano Department Area Recital and Students of Dr. Holden Studio Recital. She also was a participant in BYU's Concerto Competition. She performed two solo piano recitals, in Spring of 2004 and Spring of 2006.
Jenny is also an accomplished accompanist, having accompanied vocalists and instrumentalists professionally for fifteen years. She also plays the violin and the organ.
In 2010 Jenny became a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music. She renews her certification annually through continuing education and research, including attending conferences, teaching lessons and piano camps, and contributing to the piano pedagogy community through her website, www.theplayfulpiano.com.
Jenny has written and published several publications and resources for piano teachers, including her My Muscle Builder Book technique series for young pianists, which has been used in over 200 piano studios, her Early Explorers preschool piano camp curriculum, her Mighty Musicians piano camp curriculum, as well as many other piano teaching resources.
She is married to a great guy who also plays the piano and organ, and they have four beautiful children. She and her family live in Farr West, Utah.
