About Jenny
When Jenny was in preschool, she would come home, sit down at the piano bench, and play by ear the songs she had sung at school that day. Her parents realized that she had a talent for music, and at the age of six Jenny began her formal piano study. At the age of thirteen she was accepted into the studio of Dr. Bonnie Winterton, a professor of piano at the University of Utah. Through the encouragement of Dr. Winterton, Jenny began teaching piano lessons at the age of fifteen, and has continued to teach ever since.
At the age of seventeen, Jenny was a soloist with the Murray Symphony, performing the first movement of Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor. She also performed the same concerto with her high school orchestra in Salt Lake City, as well as in San Francisco, California. At the age of eighteen she performed the third movement of the same concerto with her high school orchestra. In 2002 she received the honor of being her high school's Sterling Scholar in Music.
Jenny attended Brigham Young University, where she received her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance, studying piano with Dr. Scott Holden and pedagogy with Dr. Irene Peery-Fox. She received academic and music scholarships while at BYU, and performed in several BYU-sponsored performances, including the BYU Piano Department Area Recital and Students of Dr. Holden Studio Recital. She also was a participant in BYU's Concerto Competition. She performed two solo piano recitals, in Spring of 2004 and Spring of 2006.
Jenny is also an accomplished accompanist, having accompanied vocalists and instrumentalists professionally for the past eight years. She also plays the violin and the organ.
Jenny recently became a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music. She is married and has a two-year-old son. She and her family recently relocated to the San Antonio area, where she is excited to establish her piano studio.
